Vintage Press

food keeps sticking to sandwich press after cooking?
i have a vintage sandwich press (50s or 60s model) which makes great grilled cheese. but problem is i beleive it’s the food sticks to it and it is the devil to get clean! what can I do? I am sure these products are not “coated” with non – stick stuff. I tried formula 409 and that works a lil but i don’t want to keep scraping off hard cooked bread spots/melted cheese with a butter knife b/c it’s making scratch marks. what’s a solution to cleaning this appliance? ….ty
I would spray it with cooking oil spray after it warms up – treat it like a stainless steel pan. If you heat it first, then apply the oil/spray it usually will not stick. Allow the bread to cook until it releases.
Also take wet paper towels and place in the press, close it and wait for a few minutes and the crud should come off with a sponge. Turn the appliance off first.

Free Press $45 Taking its collective name from the wartime underground press of Europe’s anti-Nazi resistance, the publications examined here were all members of the Underground Press Syndicate (later renamed the Alternative Press Syndicate), founded in 1967 so that member papers could freely share and reprint material. This utopian model resulted in an explosion of alternative publications worldwide as every small start-up had access to the work of soon-to-be famous writers, journalists, artists, and graphic designers. Among the notable figures whose work has appeared in these pages are Hunter S. Thompson, T. Coraghessan Boyle, Ken Kesey, R. Crumb, Art Spiegelman–to name only a few. The underground press documented everything from politics and art to film and fashion. Among the publications featured here are The Los Angeles Free Press (persecuted by the Nixon-era FBI for its antiwar views), The East Village Other (the first to adopt a psychedelic layout), Interview (founded by Andy Warhol and the first to feature homoerotic imagery), The Chicago Seed, Oracle, and The Berkeley Barb (famous for one cover showing a young man with a chain around his mind). The ideas unleashed in these now vintage publications continue to reverberate through society and influence public discourse and graphic design in the form of today’s ‘zines and online blogs. |

Kluson K33 Keystone Guitar Tuning Machines 3-Per-Side Gold $89.5 The TonePros Kluson K33 are classic 3 per side vintage style tuners, but with TonePros engineering technologies packed into the vintage box. TonePros is first in the industry again with 33’s completely sealed tuner technology applied to the vintage Press In Bushing format. This means that these models do not have the hex bolt around the tuner post of more modern tuners, yet these tuners are uniquely designed with extra post support and are very tight & exact in both tuning directions. The 33 series does not require the large hole size of either of the more modern tuners, in favor of use of a more vintage size peg hole which is either a direct retrofit or minimum modification for installation. New technology design improvements include high 16:1 Tuning Ratio, additional post room for extra string winds, attention to vintage weight & mass, vintage aged Butterscotch Keystone colored buttons, and high performance & quality packed into the original official Kluson name plate. 3 per side, 12/64 shaft size.Kluson has been supplying original equipment tuners to major guitar manufacturers since 1925.3 per sideCompletely sealedKeystone buttonDouble row casing print |

Magazine Covers $35.65 The magazine cover has always been a formidable selling tool. Far more than in other forms of printed media, it is the cover that sells. Magazines have to catch the reader’s eye and therefore their impact must be immediate. Today, a hundred years on from some of the fist serial magazines, it is possible to look back and see how the magazine has affected the way we perceive the world. Not only has the magazine cover provided the canvas for some of the world’s great designers and art directors, but it has also also created lasting icons, from Nixon’s makeover on the of Esquire to a naked, pregnant Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair Magazine Covers is an unparalleled survey of the best of magazine and periodical cover designs in the 20th centuries, from the avantgarde magazines of the 1920s through to the style press of today. Representative examples of the very best covers are chosen by design expert David Crowely to explain the methodology, motivations, and aims of the art directors and their designers. The author reveals the heydays of world-famous magazines, such as Harper’s Bazaar, French Elle of the 1960s, Nova of the 1960s and Andy Warhol’s Interview of the 1970s, and shows how magazines covers were closely linked to the social and political events of the times. With over 300 color illustrations of both well-known covers and more obscure examples, Magazine Covers is a truly international survey, a unique documentation of the development of the medium and will be required reading for all design students, designers, and vintage magazine collectors. |

Marshall 1960ADM Dave Mustaine 4X12 Angled Cab $1199 Every piece of Marshall Amplification’s 1960ADM Dave Mustaine Signature Angled Guitar Speaker Cabinet is cut to size & shape by their experienced woodworkers. Finger joints & specialist wood glue are used to join together the top, base, and side pieces to form the basic structure of the cabinet, which is then placed inside a radio frequency press. Clamps within the press ensure that the cabinet will be square & true, while the radio frequencies cook the glue, creating strong & durable joints that will stand up to harsh punishment. Once out of the radio frequency press, and prior to being sanded by hand, the baffle board is fixed into position and hand-sealed, giving the 1960ADM a focused, aggressive response when complete. After the construction process, the slate black carbon fiber-patterned vinyl covering is applied. The Kevlar-inspired material is cut to size and shaped by hand. The Finishing department adds the internal wiring, handles, protective corners and the diamond-punched steel kick grille – the first of its kind to be added to a full-production 1960 speaker cabinet. The grille is manufactured in-house from mild steel before being powder coated & fixed into position. The Marshall logo and signature Dave Mustaine plaque are affixed prior to speaker installation (vintage 70W G12-V30 Celestions). Lastly, the back of the cabinet is hand sealed. After construction is complete, each 1960ADM is manually tested & inspected. |

Oswald’s Tale $15.95 MARVELOUS . . . BREATHTAKING. –The New York Times Book Review MAILER SHINES . . . Explaining Kennedy’s assassination through the flaws in Oswald’s character has been attempted before, notably by Gerald Posner in Case Closed and Don Delillo in Libra. But neither handled Oswald with the kind of dexterity and literary imagination that Mailer here supplies in great force. . . . Oswald’s Tale weaves a story not only about Oswald or Kennedy’s death but about the culture surrounding the assassination, one that remains replete with miscomprehensions, unraveled threads and lack of resolution: All of which makes Oswald’s Tale more true-to-life than any fact-driven treatise could hope to be. . . . Vintage Mailer. –The Philadelphia Inquirer FASCINATING . . . A MASTER STORYTELLER . . . Mailer gives us our clearest, deepest view of Oswald yet. . . . Inside three pages you are utterly absorbed. –Detroit Free Press MAILER AT HIS BEST . . . LIVELY AND CONVINCING . . . EXTREMELY LUCID . . . Mailer is fierce, courageous, and reckless and nearly everything he writes has sections of headlong brilliance. . . . [He] has found a way to make the dry bones of KGB tapes and his own interviews stand up and perform. . . . From the American master conjurer of dark and swirling purpose, a moving reflection. –Robert Stone The New York Review of Books THIS IS A NARRATIVE OF TREMENDOUS ENERGY AND PANACHE; THE AUTHOR AT THE TOP OF HIS FORM. –Christopher Hitchens Financial Times Mailer has written some pretty crazy books in his time, but this isn’t one of them. Like its predecessor, Harlot’s Ghost, it is the performance of an author relishing the force and reach ofhis own acuity. –Martin Amis The London Sunday Times |
